Having interviewed several landscapers, we chose Steve Hailstone to design our garden and supervise its construction. We had seen his own garden and loved it. We know him to be straight dealing and he has experience in actually constructing what he designs. Because we are busy professionals, we needed someone with design flair and project and relationship skills to work with contractors to get the job done.
We asked Steve to come up with some ideas for the garden and were absolutely delighted with his inspired design. He resolved a number of practical issues whilst creating outdoor spaces that are beautifully unified but offer the opportunity for different living experiences.
We anticipated that the greatest challenge would be co-ordinating the builder (as we were renovating the house), Steve and the landscape contractor in Melbourne who carried out the works under Steve’s supervision. Steve consulted with us regularly, listened to our thoughts and ensured we ended up with the garden we wanted.

Steve, In the six years since you helped us with the design of our back garden it has evolved in so many ways that we just wanted to tell you how much we enjoy it.
We’ve done most of the work ourselves over the time and are delighted with the result. We’ve modified the garden shed details a little, but the ideas and location - right amongst the ‘workings’ of the garden - have been fantastic. The vegetable garden is also a boon – and our pride and joy! The produce we receive from it is fantastic. The trees around the lawn are now established and the fruit trees are bearing fruit. The scene is so very peaceful. We use it all the time.
